Lewis Hamilton has doubled down on his stunning “change drivers” comment directed at Ferrari following a disappointing Hungarian GP qualifying session, making it clear it hasn’t softened his stance.

After qualifying well below expectations, Hamilton suggested Ferrari “probably need to change drivers” — a comment that immediately went viral across social media. Many assumed it was frustration in the heat of the moment. However, when pressed for clarification ahead of Sunday’s race, Hamilton refused to backtrack.

Asked if he could “help us understand” why he made the remark, Hamilton bluntly responded: “Not particularly, when you have a feeling, you have a feeling. There’s a lot going on in the background that’s not great so…”

When asked if he still felt the same way as he did after qualifying, Hamilton didn’t hesitate: “The same.”

Journalists then pushed further, asking what he hoped the team could do to support him after such a difficult weekend. Hamilton’s reply was short and sharp: “I don’t ask anything of the team.”

Even when asked whether his mindset had changed after sleeping on the incident, the seven-time world champion simply replied: “No, it’s the same.”

Hamilton’s candid comments have added fuel to an already dramatic Ferrari season, with Charles Leclerc struggling to convert pole position into victories and Hamilton himself facing a steep learning curve in his first year with the team. Ferrari currently finds itself under immense scrutiny as they attempt to return to championship-contending form.

Fans have reacted with shock and heartbreak to Hamilton’s uncompromising tone, with some encouraging him and showing support in the difficult times.

Regardless of how the remainder of the Hungarian GP unfolds, Hamilton’s blunt assessment has ensured the spotlight is firmly on Maranello — and on whether the team can respond to one of its biggest stars publicly questioning its direction.
