Lewis Hamilton is having one of the worst seasons in his F1 career. The seven-time world champion’s debut campaign with Ferrari has been far from expectations, with a lack of results on-track. Things have become so disappointing that Hamilton has admitted that he doesn’t remember how to fight for pole position anymore.

The British driver has failed to get desired results since he joined the Italian team. In the first eight races, Lewis Hamilton has never really seemed to have a chance at victory, apart from a sprint win in China. The situation within the team has become worse as well. After the Monaco GP, Hamilton was allegedly treated with radio silence by Ferrari. Though, the team has clarified over the situation.

During media day at the Spanish GP, Lewis Hamilton was asked about what it takes to pull off a perfect lap for pole position. The 40-year-old gave a brutally honest answer. Hamilton confessed that it had been so long since he took pole, that he doesn’t even remember. So much so, that the Ferrari star is now trying to figure out how to end his pole-less streak.

I don’t know. I haven’t done it in a long time – it’s just the truth. I haven’t done it for so long so I’m trying to figure that out myself.

Lewis Hamilton said

These comments are shocking for fans. Lewis Hamilton holds the record for the most pole positions in the history of Formula 1 with 104. Though, it indeed has been a while since the Briton accomplished such a feat. Hamilton’s last pole position came at the 2023 Hungarian GP.

Lewis Hamilton declares 2025 a ‘fun’ year with Ferrari

Despite the lack of results on-track, or the struggles within the team, Lewis Hamilton remains optimistic about his stint at Scuderia Ferrari. The seven-time world champion went on to claim that he has had fun with his new team so far. Now, the Briton was focused on trying to get a good result this weekend in Barcelona.

It’s been a fun year [with Ferrari] so far. Looking forward to getting on track here in Barcelona, get back to a normal track.

Lewis Hamilton stated

Hamilton pointed out that the track gives an accurate picture of the pecking order. Formula 1 used to conduct entire preseason testing in Barcelona before moving to Bahrain. As such, the track itself has some good corners which gets everything out of the car.

This track has always been a good track for that [to see where the teams sit]. It used to be the track we used to test at the most, got a good combination of corners so usually here you get a bit of a lay of the land and how far you are off.

Lewis Hamilton explained

Lewis Hamilton needs a strong weekend in Spain. Tensions at Ferrari are rumored to be on the rise. There is even speculation over team boss Fred Vasseur potentially being at risk of losing his job. Thus, the next few races will be even more important for Hamilton and the team, as it could decide the future of the Prancing Horse.
