Max Verstappen‘s future is the biggest talking point in the Formula 1 paddock at the moment. Rumors over the Dutchman’s potential switch to Mercedes have only increased in the past week, with media surrounding the 27-year-old during media day at the British GP. Now, Lewis Hamilton has commented on such a possibility.
Reports over Verstappen potentially wanting to join the Silver Arrows are not new. The four-time world champion has been linked to such a move since last year. Though, the intensity of such rumors have amplified in the past couple of weeks. Nevertheless, Max Verstappen has continued to remain firm in his stance, not showing direct interest in leaving Red Bull just yet.
Lewis Hamilton, who spent over a decade at Brackley and achieved incredible success, had positive comments for his former team. The seven-time world champion insisted that the Silver Arrows were an amazing team with some of the most passionate people in the paddock. While Hamilton did not directly suggest Max Verstappen to make this leap of faith to Mercedes, he remained interested in how this situation pans out in the coming weeks.
But what I can say, if anyone was going to ask me about Mercedes, it’s an amazing team also. With, naturally, the passion, they’ve got great personnel, it’s a great factory, great environment to work in. So, of course I would say, be interested to see what happens.

Since making his switch to Scuderia Ferrari this year, Lewis Hamilton has faced a culture shock. The seven-time world champion had only raced for McLaren and Mercedes in the past, two teams based in Great Britain. However, the difference in culture has not just been within his new team. Rather, Hamilton even found a difference when it came to the fanbases.
The 40-year-old has enjoyed a massive fan following over the years, particularly in his home country. Hamilton reckoned that British fans were extremely hardcore for their favorite driver, no matter the team. On the other hand, for the Tifosi, everything was about Ferrari.
It’s different, because I would say that fans in England are hardcore fans essentially, but it’s more of a one-on-one relationship. Yes, they follow you to whatever team you’re with, but it’s a flag that you’re raising and they’re there to support you, where obviously with Ferrari, it’s Ferrari that people really are drawn to.
Lewis Hamilton said, as quoted by PlanetF1
The Tifosi’s love for the Prancing Horse is well known in Formula 1. The Italian fans flood Monza every year, with big flags of the Scuderia. Lewis Hamilton will certainly be waiting to experience the thrill of the Italian GP as a Ferrari driver.
While Hamilton understands the passion of Ferrari fans, the Briton is yet to bring some good results for Maranello. So far, the 40-year-old has not had much to boast about other than a sprint victory in China. However, the seven-time world champion hopes to bounce back in the latter half of the season. The Tifosi would be cheering for the F1 star to return to winning ways.
