Amidst the recent RB– Daniel Ricciardo saga, Liam Lawson was the driver who benefitted from it. With the Kiwi slated to take part in the US Grand Prix next week, he would be enjoying his last few days before F1’s next few hectic months. Moreover, owing to his love for Lightning McQueen, the 22-year-old recently watched Disney’s ‘Cars’ like a motorsport cinephile on a flight during the ongoing F1 break.
Liam Lawson has been a part of the Red Bull academy since 2019 and made a stellar impression on the grid last year, acting as a super-sub when Daniel Ricciardo was injured. On the contrary, unlike other drivers, his idol for racing was not a world champion or even an F1 driver, but ‘Cars’ movie protagonist Lightning McQueen.
Moreover, his love for the No.95 car has not faded away even a single bit, he posted a story on his Instagram while watching the Disney movie on a flight.
I was in a competition of the biggest fan of Cars and especially Lightning McQueen but my opponent was Liam Lawson pic.twitter.com/x3x3v6H0My

On the other hand, his 2024 birth at Austin is anticipated to go mediocrely as he would be hit with a 10-place grid penalty. Thus, making the US GP weekend, possibly one to forget for him.
While Lawson is destined to stay with the Red Bull family till the end of 2024, the 22-year-old was not so lucky in the early days of his career. Financial constraints have often mercilessly ended driver’s careers, and Lawson was also on the verge of axing his racing ambitions until Red Bull appeared at the scene.
Subsequently, the RB driver elaborated how the Austrian giant took him under their reigns when he least expected. Ultimately, giving his career the support he needed and explaining the reason why he stayed loyal to Horner & Co. despite staying on the sidelines for over a year.
So we set out in New Zealand between a group of amazing people that have been behind me – sponsors and investors – we set up this structure to basically get enough money to go to Europe and do a season and try and get recognised by a junior team, because without it there was no chance of getting into Formula 1.

Apart from this, Lawson could actually be rushed at RB, due to him being possibly considered as a candidate for the Red Bull seat in 2025. Thus, the threat posed upon Sergio Perez is still not over, as the Kiwi would give his all to get a chance on the senior team.
