Max Verstappen claims he was ‘jumping like a kangaroo’ during Monaco GP practice
Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has been continuously facing problems with his challenger for the past few races. The Dutchman nearly lost out at the Emilia Romagna GP due to the problems in his chassis. However, despite the struggles, the 26-year-old scored the race win. But, around the Monte Carlo circuit, the world champion is struggling with his chassis once again.

Red Bull was expecting multiple challenges at the Monaco GP, especially against Ferrari and McLaren. Max Verstappen was expected to handle the issues. However, during the practice session, the Dutchman went on to his radio to point out the issues he was facing.

Verstappen pointed out that the RB20 chassis was ‘jumping like a kangaroo’ around the slim streets of Monte Carlo. Additionally, the 26-year-old claimed that he was feeling dizzy and getting headaches due to the constant back and forth in the chassis. Hence, the team will have to work overtime on fixing the chassis to help the Dutchman score the race win in Monaco.

I'm jumping like a kangaroo, man. I'm getting headaches! It's crazy. Max Verstappen told on his radio.

Max Verstappen anticipates a ‘difficult weekend’ in Monaco

Max Verstappen expects a lot of struggle driving around the Monacan circuit and to score the race win. After already facing struggles during the practice sessions, he wasn’t surprised. Verstappen highlighted that the track layout would not be the ‘best’ for Red Bull. Additionally, the Dutchman pointed out the team normally struggled over the bumps and curbs around other circuits as well.

Looking at the track layout it’s probably not going to be our best track, just because our car normally struggles a bit over bumps and kerbs. Max Verstappen said, as reported by bbc.com.

However, Milton Keynes has worked on the issues for the past year and expects a better time during the 2024 season. Apart from this, Verstappen revealed that Red Bull’s challenger has been improving around the low-speed performance. Regardless of these factors, the 26-year-old anticipates a difficult time around the Monegasque circuit.

We did work on it a bit compared to last year. So far on most of the tracks that we’ve been to our low-speed performance has improved a little bit, but I don’t think this is going to be a very easy weekend. Max Verstappen noted.

Red Bull has minimized committing errors during a typical race weekend. Hence, if Verstappen could manage to drive the chassis extremely well despite the issues, the team could score another race win. The Milton-Keynes-based team has been facing close competition from rivals, especially McLaren and Ferrari. As a result, the entire Monaco weekend will be filled with excitement and pure racing action.
