Max Verstappen reflects on fourth consecutive F1 championship in new documentary

Max Verstappen has become a superstar in Formula One (F1) and is looking back at his fourth consecutive world championship in a new documentary. Viaplay, a streaming service that includes European and Nordic content, released Verstappen – Lion Unleashed 4, the fourth season of the Lion Unleashed series. The documentary is a 25-minute look at Verstappen’s 2024 season, which had its share of ups and downs.

“In Lion Unleashed 4 , World Champion Max Verstappen, his father Jos Verstappen, manager Raymond Vermeulen and racing legend David Coulthard speak exclusively to Viaplay about the road to Max’s incredible fourth championship win in 2024; briefly going through key races,” the synopsis states. Lion Unleased 4 was released on Thursday on Viaplay.

But that’s not the only Verstappen documentary on the streaming service. Simply Lovely was released in June and features Verestappen being interviewed by Amber Bransten for nearly an hour. Some of the topics they touched on were his future with Red Bull Racing, relationships with other drivers, issues with his team, and the decisions made during the 2024 season.

Max Verstappen reponds to recent rumors

Speaking of 2024, Verstappen competed in 24 F1 races and won nine of them. He also earned 14 podiums and finished the year with 437 points. So far this season, Verstappen has earned two victories and five podiums in 11 races. He’s in third place in the standings and behind McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.

This week, Verstappen spoke to reporters about a rumor of him leaving Red Bull Racing for Mercedes in 2026. “I have nothing to add. Nothing has changed from my side,” he said, per ESPN. “Last week, we didn’t have a great result. I think it was not a great weekend, but also a bit unlucky in general. I don’t say, of course, that we would be challenging McLaren, but we could have had a decent result. And everything that I said that week is still the same. Nothing has changed from my side.”

In his F1 career, Verstappen has won 65 races and earned 117 podiums. He has won the ESPY Award for Best Driver in 2023 and 2024.
