Max Verstappen wins Spanish Grand Prix, increases F1 lead
David Kirouac-USA TODAY Sports

Max Verstappen passed George Russell on the third lap and cruised to a win at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday in Barcelona, Spain.

Verstappen recorded his seventh victory of the season and third straight at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalonia.

He passed pole sitter Lando Norris into Turn One before Russell found his way around both of them.

Undaunted, the Red Bull representative slipped past Norris and finished the race in 1:28:20.227. The three-time champion finished 2.219 seconds ahead of McLaren's Norris and boosted his championship lead to 69 points.

The Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Russell finished third and fourth, respectively. Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, ended up 17.790 seconds behind Verstappen, while Russell finished 22.320 seconds behind the leader.

The Ferrari tandem of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
