McLaren’s Andrea Stella in awe of Max Verstappen’s ‘AMAZING’ off-the-line starts during Grand Prix weekends

Max Verstappen , the reigning world champion, has been in menacing form since the start of the 2024 F1 season. He has already amassed five Grand Prix wins and while several people have credited him on various aspects, McLaren team principal, Andrea Stella has put emphasis on one key area behind the Dutchman’s success.

Andrea Stella is of the opinion that the key behind the 26-year-old’s strong results in F1 is his strong getaways when the light go-out! Max Verstappen has always had insane reaction times and this is one of the main reasons he is very rarely seen losing out on the lead when he starts from P1.

During the Imola weekend as well Verstappen got off to a strong start and was able to hold off Lando Norris going into Turn 1.

No, I think if we look at Verstappen's consistent launches, it's just amazing. It's true he scores pole position, but you rarely see him losing the first position at the first corner. Gaining this consistency in launches, is again, the result of good work. Andrea Stella said in an interview with racingnews365

Verstappen has been dominating F1 since the start of the ground-effect era. He has won three world championships since 2021 and as things stand, is the favorite to amass another title at the end of this year.

Max Verstappen ‘factor’ helped Red Bull secure victory in Imola

While Andrea Stella has showered immense praise on the ability of Max Verstappen as a racing driver, Red Bull’s Helmut Marko has also applauded the 26-year-old. Marko genuinely feels that the Emilia-Romagna GP win was all down to Verstappen.

The Dutchman won the race by an extremely small margin of 0.725 seconds.

If we are not in the best possible position, then thank goodness we still have the Max factor, which also brought us victory in Imola. Helmut Marko said in an interview with Speedweek

The ongoing campaign is seven rounds down and Max Verstappen is leading the Driver’s Championship. He has so far amassed 161 points whereas his nearest rival, Charles Leclerc is currently on 113. However, despite this, Verstappen can’t afford to take things easy especially considering that next up is the challenging Monaco GP.
