Oscar Piastri kept Lando Norris at bay during the Dutch GP Qualifying and clinched the pole position against him. The Australian is leading the driver’s title by just nine points ahead of Norris, as his pole would definitely help him stay in the lead. With the championship battle seeming to heat up further between the two teammates, Piastri has expressed his ambitions to emerge victorious in the end.
McLaren’s dominant pace has enabled both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris to perform better than the rest of the grid during the race weekends. The team is leading both titles as their performance seems to only improve from this point forward. Woking is already 299 points ahead of the runner-up team in Ferrari, as the constructors’ title already seems a done deal for them.
Even the driver’s title is tipped in McLaren’s favor as Oscar Piastri leads the title by 69 points over the non-McLaren driver in Max Verstappen. However, the intra-team battle at Woking would be highly interesting as the point difference between the two is just nine points ahead of the Dutch GP. As such, Piastri has insisted that all the upcoming races between them would be a face-off.
Oscar Piastri noted that he and his crew kept working hard to keep chipping away on track and gain even the smallest advantage possible. Piastri insisted that there were still some things that they had to work on and improve in the right direction. Regardless, the Aussie emphasized that both he and Lando Norris were trying to beat each other every weekend, as the title fight might come even closer in the coming races.
You just keep chipping away. Still some things to try and work on, but overall very happy. We are both trying to beat each other every weekend.

Lando Norris missed out on the pole position by a gap of just 0.012 seconds, as Oscar Piastri could have definitely lost the lead. Regardless, Piastri made all the difference on the track and held to his P1 start. As such, the 24-year-old was extremely delighted to start the race at the front of the pack and laid out his ambitions for the main race.
Oscar Piastri insisted that he ‘peaked’ on the track at the right time and achieved the pole position against Lando Norris. Piastri emphasized that he was super happy with the results. However, the 24-year-old controlled himself and pointed out that the points were awarded by race results and not Qualifying. As such, the Aussie will give it his all and hope to hold onto his lead by finishing right where he started.
That was the definition of peaking at the right time. I’m super happy to come out with this result, but obviously the points are tomorrow. It was looking like a little bit of a tricky weekend so far, so happy with that.
Oscar Piastri noted
The Dutch GP is going to be extremely enticing and nail-biting, especially between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. The race is suspected to have rainy conditions, as that would definitely bring the pack even closer. Hence, time will tell about how Piastri holds his lead on the Zandvoort track and ultimately in the driver’s standings.
