Oscar Piastri won the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday, going from the pole to controlling the race and claiming victory. Lando Norris finished in second behind Piastri, while George Russell was third.
Thanks to his win, Piastri now trails his teammate Norris by only three points in the drivers’ championship standings. McLaren has two drivers seemingly competing for the drivers’ championship. It may eventually have to come up with a strategy that keeps both drivers happy while competing for both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
Finishing fourth and fifth were Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari, who seem to have regained their form after early-season woes.
On the other hand, Red Bull struggled all weekend in Bahrain but was able to get both drivers in the points column, with Max Verstappen finishing sixth and Yuki Tsunoda finishing ninth. With the last of three consecutive race weekends coming up in Saudi Arabia, Red Bull will only have a week to try to re-balance its car and regain some form of competitive edge. Mercedes, McLaren, and Ferrari all seem to have the necessary pace to compete.
This is Piastri’s second win of the season, as he also claimed victory at the Chinese Grand Prix.
