Since 2005 (after taking over for Jaguar Racing), Red Bull Racing has been a staple in Formula 1, dominating the sport in the early 2010s and 2020s. All of Formula 1’s Drivers’ Championships from 2010-24 were won by Red Bull or Mercedes until McLaren and Lando Norris ended that streak.
Winners of eight World Drivers’ Championships — Sebastian Vettel (2010-13) and Max Verstappen (2021-24) — and six Constructors’ titles, Red Bull Racing has Helmut Marko to thank for bringing the talent worthy enough to compete with teams like Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren over the course of his 20 years with the team.
Marko has announced he will be leaving his role with the team.
In a statement, Team Principal Laurent Mekies said Marko’s leaving would “leave a void, and we will truly miss him.”
“It is very sad news that Helmut is leaving us. He has been such an integral part of our Team and of Red Bull's entire motor racing programme for more than two decades. This is therefore the end of a remarkably successful chapter. His departure will leave a void, and we will truly miss him. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for his unwavering support, not only over the past months, but also during my early days at Scuderia Toro Rosso. On a personal note, Helmut, along with Oliver Mintzlaff, was the driving force behind bringing me back into the Red Bull family, first in Faenza and then this summer in my current role in Milton Keynes. Helmut is a real racer at heart, always pushing us to the limit, always prepared to take risks in pursuit of our goals.”
20 Years, 417 Races, 6 Constructors' Championships, 8 Drivers' Championships.

After the team sacked former Team Principal and CEO Christian Horner following the British Grand Prix, it gave the reins to Mekies, who has been in the sport since 2001. Mekies has had various roles within the Red Bull organization, including working with their junior team Toro Rosso/Visa Cash App Racing Bulls.
Next season is three months away, and both Red Bull teams will have a new driver lineup. Red Bull Racing will seat Verstappen and Isack Hadjar while Racing Bulls will go with Liam Lawson and 18-year-old rookie Arvid Lindblad. Lindblad came up while Marko was still with the program.
At 82, Marko leaves a great legacy in the sport. However, he will leave a little stain on his reputation as he departs after accusing Mercedes rookie driver Kimi Antonelli of “moving over” for now world champion Lando Norris. The team has since apologized for this.
