The British Grand Prix began with a terrifying scene Sunday as Guanyu Zhou's car flipped upside down before sliding into and over the barriers in Turn 1. His collision was shortly followed by a separate wreck involving Alex Albon, who was eventually taken by helicopter to a local hospital.
Formula 1 announced that both drivers were conscious and taken to the medical center for further evaluation. The race resumed after a nearly one-hour suspension.
The first crash occurred when Pierre Gasly was pinched between George Russell and Zhou, causing the latter two drivers to collide and Zhou's car to flip.

Albon braked to avoid the wreck and was hit from behind by Sebastian Vettel, sending Albon into the barrier and rebounding into the cars of Yuki Tsunoda and Esteban Ocon.
