Lewis Hamilton has opened up about his experience working with Brad Pitt on the upcoming Formula 1 movie, praising the Hollywood actor for his commitment and skill behind the wheel.
The seven-time world champion, who serves as a co-producer and consultant on the film, said the collaboration exceeded all expectations.
The film, which has been one of the most anticipated sports productions in recent memory, follows a fictional F1 driver named Sonny Hayes as he returns to the grid alongside a young rookie.
Hamilton has been deeply involved in ensuring the film stays true to the sport’s spirit, from car design to on-track authenticity. For him, working with Brad Pitt was more than just a celebrity pairing, it was a creative partnership grounded in mutual respect and a shared love for motorsport.
Speaking to Apple TV, Hamilton said, “Never in a million years did I think I’d get to work with Brad Pitt. He’s done an amazing job. He really, really brings a huge amount to the character of Sonny.
“He’s got an underlying ability actually to really drive.”
Hamilton’s admiration for Pitt stems from the actor’s hands-on approach during filming. Rather than relying solely on stunt doubles, Pitt reportedly underwent intensive race training to authentically portray the high-speed world of Formula 1.
Hamilton noted that Pitt’s dedication was instrumental in elevating the realism of the production, bridging the gap between Hollywood spectacle and genuine F1 action.
The Mercedes driver’s role as producer also meant he could shape the film’s technical elements to ensure it stayed grounded in reality.
He worked closely with the production team to recreate the cockpit experience, the pressure of competition, and the physical demands that define the life of a professional driver.
Reflecting on the project’s scale, Hamilton added, “It is the most authentic racing movie that’s ever been made. Finally, people get to feel what it’s like to be a racing driver.”
The film was shot across several real Grand Prix weekends, including circuits such as Silverstone and Spa, where Pitt and the crew were seen filming during live sessions.
The combination of real cars, race footage, and minimal CGI has set expectations high within the motorsport community.
Hamilton’s influence has been key to that realism, blending Hollywood storytelling with the unmistakable adrenaline of Formula 1.
As anticipation builds ahead of the movie’s release, Hamilton’s partnership with Brad Pitt has already set a new benchmark for sports films.
For the seven-time world champion, it is a project that combines his passion for racing, storytelling, and pushing boundaries, both on and off the track.
