Lando Norris scored his much-awaited maiden victory in Formula 1 at the Miami GP. The entire McLaren crew broke into celebration for the impressive race from the Briton. The 24-year-old fended off well against Max Verstappen who had suffered some chassis damage. Even Verstappen was happy for the Englishman on such an amazing feat. Now, McLaren CEO Zak Brown has shared his thoughts on the battle between the two.

Red Bull’s highly capable RB20 chassis has eliminated competition from the rival teams. However, Milton Keynes has already lost out on two races out of the six total including Norris’ maiden win. Hence, Zak Brown reckoned that Lando Norris could beat Max Verstappen in a straight fight. The 52-year-old claimed that it would be an ‘awesome fight’. Also, the CEO added that the race could end in tears, for one or the other or even both.

I do think Lando can beat Max in a straight fight, I think it would be an awesome fight, I think many races would end in tears – for one or the other, or both. Zak Brown said, as reported by motorsport.com.

Additionally, the McLaren CEO believed that in terms of ‘raw talent’ he hasn’t seen anyone faster than Lando Norris. Zak Brown felt that Max Verstappen was just as fast as the Briton in terms of racing around the circuit. However, the 52-year-old accepted that not many people would agree with him, keeping in mind the Dutchman’s dominant run. If both the drivers are provided the same car, then there would be a true revelation.

But I think as far as raw talent can be, I've not seen someone faster than Lando. I'm sure Max is just as fast, I'm sure some people will disagree and ultimately, we'll never know until you see them in the same car. Zak Brown mentioned.

Zak Brown claims Oscar Piastri can ‘match’ Lando Norris after gaining more experience

Lando Norris left no stones unturned to seal his impressive maiden victory. The Woking-based team was however overly confident on the Briton’s capabilities against the rivals. Amidst this, Zak Brown didn’t hesitate to claim that Lando Norris was the ‘fastest driver’ on the track, overlooking Verstappen’s performances. McLaren will continue to provide the youngster with the best possible challenger on the track to score such performances in the near future.

But, from everything I can see of Lando, I don't see a faster racing driver out there. Zak Brown noted.

Apart from Norris, Oscar Piastri has also been driving exceptionally well for just his second year in the sport. The Aussie had already scored a sprint win in his rookie season in Formula 1. Hence, Brown believed that Piastri could match Norris after some time in the sport as he gains more experience.

What's exciting is Oscar [Piastri] can match him. As he gets more experience I think he'll match him more often. Zak Brown declared.

McLaren has a great drivers’ lineup in Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Both drivers have been showcasing their talent and could go on to be the next world champions. Additionally, the duo hasn’t clashed heads with each other on multiple occasions. Hence, the coming seasons are looking very positive for the British based constructor in Formula 1.
