Virginia has found its quarterback of the future.

2025 four-star quarterback Cole Geer announced his commitment to Virginia on social media on Sunday night, choosing the Cavaliers over offers from Boston College, Virginia Tech, UConn, and UMass.

"I am proud to announce my commitment to the University of Virginia to play Division 1 football!" Geer said in a social media post.

A 6'1" quarterback from Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts, Geer has not yet received a recruiting rating from 247Sports, but is a three-star prospect on Rivals and On3 and a four-star recruit on ESPN, which ranks him the No. 16 quarterback in the class and No. 2 recruit in the state of Massachusetts.

Geer picked up an offer from Virginia in May and took multiple visits to UVA before making his official commitment. On one of those visits, Geer went at the same time as his Deerfield teammate Triston Ward, a 2024 three-star wide receiver who has been committed to UVA since June. Thanks in part to Ward's recruiting efforts, Geer and Ward will now share the field again at the collegiate level at Virginia.
