The Sooners are keeping their foot on the gas today, picking up their second commitment in less than 10 hours. This time OU added to the other side of the ball, locking in a pledge from four star DB Eli Bowen, brother of true freshman Peyton Bowen, out of Guyer High School in Denton, TX. Bowen has long been considered a lean towards the Sooners, no doubt in large part to the obvious connections the Sooners had. Recently, Bowen trimmed his recruitment down to a final two of Oklahoma and Texas, but ultimately the Longhorns couldn’t overcome the steep hill they were faced with in trying to get the pair of brothers on opposite sides of the Red River.

Eli Bowen is ranked as a high three star according to 247 Sports, with a similar rating in the composite rankings, but is rated as a four star by both Rivals and ESPN. He currently sits at 74th in Texas, as well as the 37th ranked corner in the country according to the 247 composite. Bowen had fielded 23 offers over the course of his recruitment, including a number of big name programs such as Oklahoma, Texas, Notre Dame, and Oregon.

With Bowen’s commitment, the Sooners now find themselves ranked as the 14th best class in the nation in the 2024 cycle, with 21 current commitments. They now have a class score of 247.62, and are currently sitting at 7th in the SEC’s recruiting rankings.
