There was brief panic among fans yesterday when a report dropped suggesting the series based on the popular novel A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) had been scrapped.

In development at Hulu, the adaptation will transfer Sarah J. Maas's romantasy series from page to screen, with Maas collaborating on the script alongside the creator of Outlander, Ronald D. Moore.

The project has been underway since March 2021, produced by 20th Television, but since the initial announcement, updates have been few and far between.

During the recent Television Critics Association press tour, Hulu's chief, Craig Erwich, said ACOTAR "has been in development", but he didn't "have any news to share".

TVLine reported yesterday that the series was no longer in the works at Hulu and it would not be shopped around to other platforms, but Variety then said that they were "told that technically the show is still in development".

A Court of Thorns and Roses is the first in a series of novels from Sarah J. Maas about Feyre Archeron, who gets taken into the faerie lands of Prythian. The series went viral on TikTok and has only grown in popularity since its publication in 2015.

It seems that, at present, the series is still in production, so fans can rest easy.
