‘A lot of shooters just need to see one go in’: Indiana women’s basketball sets school record for most 3s in road game

Indiana women’s basketball continues to set program firsts and did so again during Sunday’s 91-69 road victory over Nebraska to remain undefeated in Big Ten play.

One game removed from hitting the most consecutive shots to begin a game in women’s D1 history since 1999, the Hoosiers hot shooting continued.

Indiana hit 14 3s on Sunday, setting a program record for most 3s in a road game. The Hoosiers went 14-of-23 on the afternoon. Its 60.9 percent from deep was the sixth-best mark in any game in Indiana women’s basketball history.

In total, Indiana shot 60.7 percent from the field, the seventh-best shooting performance in program history.

“Seeing a couple go down last game against Michigan, a lot of shooters just need to see one go in,” Sydney Parrish said postgame. “Then it’ll propel you for the next game.”

That’s exactly what happened. Parrish, who has struggled with her shot this year — shooting just 32.2 percent from three entering Sunday, led Indiana with six 3s. She had 20 points and was 6-of-7 from three. That is coming off of a season-high three 3s against the Wolverines last time out.

Sara Scalia, shooting 45.3 percent from three entering Sunday’s win, was 5-of-10 from three.

In total, just four Hoosiers made a three.

Indiana (13-1; 4-0) entered Sunday shooting 37.6 percent from three on the season — 20th best in the nation. After its 14 3s in the win, that percentage moves up to 39.5 percent with 113 makes on the season.

Indiana returns to the floor on Wednesday night when it takes on Penn State at home.
