Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule has never been shy about extending new offers or being the first major program to make an offer.

That was the case once again on Thursday as Nebraska football offered three-star athlete/wide receiver Tanner Terch. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete out of Littleton, Colorado visited the Huskers on Thursday and walked away with an offer.

Soon after that, Mike Schaefer of Huskers247 put in a crystal ball projection for Terch to wind up at Nebraska. He was productive last season at wide receiver with 55 catches for 876 yards (16 yards per reception). He told Husker Online that he’s being recruited as an athlete, but receiver could end up being his best position.

It makes sense, especially if the Huskers missed on Cortez Mills. Isaiah Mozee has committed elsewhere. Nebraska football is in the mix for Corey Simms but that will be an uphill battle too.

Terch is unranked according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. His only other offer was from Army. However, that hasn’t stopped Rhule before. He’s got an eye for talent and knows it when he sees it.

Latest transfer portal rumblings for Nebraska basketball

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been active in the transfer portal. Fred Hoiberg has made three additions including Rollie Worster and Gavin Griffiths this week.

Chucky Hepburn entered the transfer portal on Thursday, but according to Robin Washut of Husker Online, the Huskers aren’t expected to make a play. Nebraska basketball did already land a point guard in Worster, plus Louisville is a team to watch — and the Cardinals have a ton of NIL to throw around.

However, another former Badger visited the Nebraska Cornhuskers. That’s Connor Essegian. He came off the bench for Wisconsin last season after scoring 11 points per game as a freshman. However, things didn’t quite click last year, but he would provide some valuable shooting depth, as well as depth on the wing, and at guard.

Indiana was thought to be the favorite. That still feels like the destination but Essegian did visit this week. Nebraska basketball is among the top two contenders for William Kyle. Wake Forest is the other according to multiple reports.

However, Kyle is going to visit for the Nebraska football spring game. He also met with Nebraska basketball coaches this week, which is promising. The 6-foot-9 forward is from Bellevue and was the Summit League Defensive Player of the Year last season in addition to scoring 13 points per game.

Villanova guard Brendan Hausen is another name to watch. He’s expected to visit early next week and is another 3-point shooter who could provide some depth for the Huskers.

Key series for Nebraska Cornhuskers on the diamond

Nebraska baseball has dropped five of six games all of a sudden. They lost their first series of the season last weekend at Rutgers after blowing leads in both defeats.

This weekend, the Cornhuskers return home to host Maryland. The Terps are 24-15 overall but 5-7 in the Big Ten. Yet, they are just one of six teams with at least 20 wins.

Nebraska is in second right now, trailing Illinois by a game. On the mound on Friday will be Brett Sears (1.32 ERA, 6-0) as well as Mason McConnaughey on Saturday who is 4-2 with a 2.29 ERA. Catcher Josh Caron is a name to watch at the plate. He also just made the Buster Posey Award Watch list. He’s hitting .308 on the season with seven home runs and 40 RBI. Dylan Carey and Ben Columbus have each caught fire, while freshman Case Sanderson is hitting .365. He’s 28th nationally in on-base percentage (.518) and has played five different positions.

Nebraska baseball will host Maryland on Friday night at 6:05 CST, followed by games on Saturday (2:00 CST) and Sunday (12:05 CST). All three games will be on BTN+ or can be listened to on Huskers.com.

Lastly, the Nebraska softball team, sitting in third in the Big Ten standings (25-16, 8-3) will travel to Ann Arbor to take on Michgan (30-11, 11-3), which is currently second in the Big Ten.

The Huskers have dealt with a ton of injuries but still have Billie Andrews and Brooke Andrews. They also lead the Big Ten in extra-base hits, which shows how dangerous this team would be with Jordy Bahl. Kaylin Kinney is still one of just 15 pitchers with 15 wins and four saves this season. The three-game series starts tonight and will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 at 6 PM CST. The other games will be on BTN+.
