West Virginia University forward Akok Akok was sidelined last week in the Mountaineers 83-76 loss to BYU last Saturday. It was the first game Akok missed since missing the first seven contests of the season after collapsing on the floor in the charity exhibition game against George Mason on October 27.
Following the game versus BYU, Eilert explained Akok's absence was due to a "medical issue" and the doctors were uncomfortable for him to compete.
On Thursday during his press conference ahead of Saturday's matchup against Texas, he provided an update on Akok.
"He's been full go ever since Saturday," said interim head coach Josh Eilert. "So, starting on Tuesday, we had no issue, so he was with us in practice and so, we're in a good spot with him right now."
Akok's presence on the court is noticeable on the defensive end, his 1.3 blocks per game are second and averages 4.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
The Mountaineers meet the Longhorns Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. EST and broadcasting on the Longhorn Network.
