The highly anticipated slate for the third annual SEC/ACC Challenge has been released and Alabama men's basketball will host Clemson, per CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein.

The date is yet to be determined but it will either be on December 2 or 3.

This will be a rematch of not only the 2023 SEC/ACC Challenge, but also the 2024 Elite Eight matchup that sent the Crimson Tide to its first Final Four in program history.

After falling to Florida in the SEC Tournament quarterfinal, Alabama received the 2-seed in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament and defeated Robert Morris, Saint Mary's and BYU before losing to 1-seed Duke in the Elite Eight. The Crimson Tide finished the season with a 28-9 (13-5 SEC) record. Alabama finished 2024-25 as the No. 6 team in the AP Top 25 and No. 6 in the Coaches Poll.

After falling to Louisville in the ACC Tournament semifinal, Clemson received the 5-seed in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament but was upset by 12-seed McNeese in the first round. The Tigers ended the season 27-7 (18-2 ACC) record and were the No. 22 team in the final AP Top 25 and No. 23 in the last Coaches Poll.

The Crimson Tide is 1-1 in the SEC/ACC Challenge with a home loss to Clemson in 2023 and a road win over North Carolina in 2024.

Alabama had a plethora of impressive wins against non-conference opponents last season, but an argument can be made that the 94-78 beatdown over the Tar Heels was the most admirable as the Tide played a practically perfect game on both sides of the court from start to finish.

While Alabama earned a point for the conference during last year's SEC/ACC Challenge, the rest of the Southeastern Conference made a major statement.

For quite some time, the SEC has been known as THE football conference and the national champions over the past couple of decades are reflective of that. Under that same criteria, basketball has belonged to the ACC, Big 12 and Big East.

The SEC logged a 14-2 record in this year's SEC/ACC Challenge. FOURTEEN WINS and TWO LOSSES against perhaps the best college basketball conference of this generation one year after going 7-7 in the 2023 event.

The SEC absolutely obliterated its non-conference opponents before the SEC/ACC Challenge as well, but it was at this moment that the college basketball world realized that the Southeastern Conference was in charge.

The SEC finished its non-conference slate with an overall record of 185-23, including an all-time best 21-8 record against AP Top 25 teams. And after a wild couple of months of SEC play, the conference sent a record 14 teams to the NCAA Tournament with Florida eventually winning it all.

The matchups reveal for the 2025 SEC/ACC Challenge brought more clarity to Alabama's non-conference schedule.

Longtime Maple Leafs Defenseman in Serious Contract Dispute With His New Team

The longtime former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Conor Timmins is in a serious contract dispute with his new team, the Buffalo Sabres. Nobody appears happy to stay with the Buffalo Sabres organization. Most of the talented players on the team were included in trade or free agency rumors, and now, Timmins doesn't appear too excited to sign with the team. Indeed, the Restricted Free Agent, who was traded by the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Sabres earlier this offseason for Connor Clifton and a second-round pick, isn't close to reaching a deal in Buffalo. With arbitration hearings set to take place over the coming days, Timmins and the Sabres are likely to meet for that reason soon. Unless a deal is reached before then, the hearing will take place on August 2nd. The Ontario native is coming off a rocky season, where he played 51 games for the Leafs and 17 more in Pittsburgh after being traded. In those 68 games, the 26-year-old defenseman tallied 15 points, including three goals. After seeing three players around the NHL reach deals before their hearing date, some fans hoped to see the Sabres and Timmins sign a contract soon, but multiple reports confirmed that there hasn't been any 'traction' between both camps. As of now, five more players are scheduled to have salary hearings. Here's the full list, per PuckPedia: Arvid Soderblom (Chicago Blackhawks) - July 28 Maksim Tsyplakov (New York Islanders) - July 29 Dylan Samberg (Winnipeg Jets) - July 30 Conor Timmins (Buffalo Sabres) - August 2 Nicholas Robertson (Toronto Maple Leafs) - August 3 Jayden Struble (Montreal Canadiens) - August 3 It'll be interesting to see what kind of contract Timmins would get in a hearing, or if a deal will be reached before the date. With the Sabres' reputation, it's not surprising to see that he appears reluctant to sign in Buffalo. Hopefully for their fans, massive changes will be done to the team to make sure they can attract top talent and convince them to stay with the team.

Why SS Bo Bichette's stellar play could cost Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays have the best record in Major League Baseball. Depth contributions throughout the lineup and on the pitching staff are a major factor in their success, but what might be even more important is the heater shortstop Bo Bichette is on. Like most of the rest of the team, after a slow start, Bichette has found his groove, and he put it all on display as Toronto (63-43) won three of four at AL Central-leading Detroit from Thursday-Sunday. Already with two RBI on Thursday and Friday, Bichette added two RBI in Saturday's 6-1 win that included this unreal 13-pitch at-bat against Tarik Skubal. Not many are taking arguably the best pitcher in baseball 13 pitches deep and forcing a walk. In Toronto's 10-4 loss Sunday, Bichette went 5-for-5 with two more RBI. Per StatMuse, it was his fourth five-hit game in the big leagues. Bichette entered the four-game series with a .281 average and now heads to Baltimore with a .289 average. That's superstar stuff from the 27-year-old two-time All-Star. Through 103 games, Bichette has 13 HRs and 65 RBI, putting him on pace for a 20-HR, 99-RBI season. He has driven in 100 runs only once during his seven-year MLB career. Bichette is doing himself wonders in a contract year, especially after a down, injury-plagued 2024 season. Toronto's chance to extend him at a discounted rate is long gone, and it feels like a formality that Bichette will at least test the market this winter. We've seen megadeals handed out to some of the league's best shortstops in recent years, including the Mets' Francisco Lindor, Texas' Corey Seager, Philadelphia's Trea Turner and Minnesota's Carlos Correa. Combine that with the increasing contract values around baseball, and Bichette is set to receive a massive payday. For now, Bichette's focus is on helping the Blue Jays win and make a postseason run that includes Toronto's first World Series title since 1993.

Aaron Rodgers’ True Colors Revealed at Training Camp After Offering Olive Branch to Terry Bradshaw

When Aaron Rodgers appeared at the Kentucky Derby on May 2, 2025, he was in the middle of a storm. The storm of rumors, speculations, and predictions was everywhere when no one knew if and when he was going to land in the Pittsburgh Steelers locker room. That was the time when, among many critics and opinions, the Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw made a shocking statement about the free agent quarterback, to which Rodgers gave an answer recently. But, before learning about Bradshaw’s comment and Rodgers’ answer to it, let’s focus on how the Steelers insider revealed the true colors of the Steelers QB. The 41-year-old QB finally signed a one-year, $13,650,000 deal with the franchise. And days ago, he also started practicing at his 21st NFL training camp, out of which 18 were with the Packers and two with the Jets. During this training camp, a reporter who closely covers the Steelers’ training camp wrote an unexpected note on Rodgers’ real nature. Steelers Reporter Unpacked Aaron Rodgers’ True Nature Mark Kaboly, a well-known insider of the franchise, has been covering the Steelers from day one of the training camp. He generally posts about the on-field happenings when he covers the training camp, but on July 26, he went off the track for an important revelation- he talked about Rodgers. Kaboly wrote, “I’ve talked to Aaron Rodgers a couple of times since he signed, and in every encounter, he comes across as a personable and down-to-earth guy,” Kaboly said. And also added, “I always have and always will say that you need to make your own decisions about people and not what other people might say about a person.” Kaboly might be referring to those people and their comments against whom Rodgers calmly fought. He had also dodged one of the verbal shots from Steelers legend Bradshaw when Rodgers’ possibility was coming on the floor for the first time. But after the four-time Super Bowl winner’s harsh words to Rodgers, recently, the 41-year-old QB still offered Bradshaw an olive branch. Rodgers Showed a Unique Gesture to Terry Bradshaw’s Critical Comment When Rodgers was rumored as the Steelers QB two months ago, Bradshaw said, “What are you gonna do? Bring him in for one year? Are you kidding me? … That guy needs to stay in California. Go somewhere and chew on bark and whisper to the gods out there.” He had also called the then-rumors a “joke”. But Rodgers hasn’t spared the comment live on air and replied to it. Rodgers, after coming to the Steelers locker room and starting training camp, said on July 26, “I’ve known Terry for a long time, being a part of Fox. Terry’s a legend. He’s an absolute legend. He won four Super Bowls. He’s had a legendary career in the media. But Terry, like a lot of people, doesn’t know me.” Rodgers continued, “And, so, he’s got an idea of what he thinks about me based on what I’ve done, the documentary, what I’ve said, darkness retreat, whatever the hell you want to talk about. I’d love to get to know Terry on a deeper level. I feel like if he gave me a chance to get to know him, then we’d have a good friendship.” And finally said, “So, I’d love to get to know Terry on a deeper level if he’s open to it. And maybe we can go chew some bark or whatever the hell he’s talking about together.” Aaron Rodgers showed maturity while receiving the harsh comments and also showed patience in giving a tight yet respectful reply. There is a reason why Rodgers is admired even after 21 years in the league.

Ryan McMahon Only Needed 2 Games With the Yankees to Embarrass Aaron Boone

Ryan McMahon Only Needed 2 Games With the Yankees to Embarrass Aaron Boone

Only eight plate appearances into his New York Yankees career, Ryan McMahon has already been more productive than the team’s previous third base options. What might sound hyperbolic or outright false at first glance is actually true, at least from a certain point of view. Analytics — specifically, Wins Above Replacement — proves that argument, and it’s one that Yankees manager Aaron Boone should be ashamed of. McMahon went 2-for-3 with a two-run double in Sunday’s victory over the Phillies, giving him four hits in his first eight at-bats. FanGraphs ruled that McMahon is already worth 0.2 fWAR through two games in a Yankees uniform. Amazingly, McMahon has a higher fWAR than the trio of DJ LeMahieu, Oswald Peraza, and Jorbit Vivas, who have played a combined 148 games in the infield thus far. LeMahieu provided -0.1 fWAR over 45 games before being unceremoniously cut earlier this month, while Vivas (-0.2) is currently at Triple-A. Peraza and his -0.6 fWAR remain on the active roster, though he’s shifted into a bench role. Baseball-Reference has been slightly more generous, giving Peraza -0.2 bWAR. Boone stuck with LeMahieu and Peraza until he couldn’t anymore, and it’s partly why the Yankees have dropped to 5 1/2 games back in the AL East. Injuries and age took their toll on LeMahieu, who only played second after returning from calf and hip problems. Peraza owns a .152 average and .452 OPS in 170 plate appearances. We’ll see if McMahon can elevate the Yankees, who open a pivotal four-game set with the rival Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night.
