Alabama football’s offensive lineman, Jaeden Roberts is questionable ahead of the Crimson Tide’s season-opener against Florida State.
Kalen DeBoer confirmed Roberts was going through concussion protocol after the Tide’s second scrimmage. He has since remained limited with Geno VanDeMark taking snaps at right guard with Alabama’s starting offensive line with him out.
DeBoer updated Roberts’ status during his Monday Press Conference.
“I would say Jaeden Roberts, still in question, just with what he’s going through with the protocol and the process there,” DeBoer said. “So, he’s progressing. He’s progressing, so we will kind of see here.”
VanDeMark is expected to start at right guard if Roberts is out against the Seminoles.
Unlike last year, DeBoer plans to allow the Tide’s starting offensive line group to play a lot of snaps without much rotation.
“Nothing probably to the extent that we had a year ago,” DeBoer told reporters. “We were very intentional with Geno and then at right tackle kind of rotating there too. So, nothing to that level right now, doesn’t mean you don’t feel comfortable putting some guys out there, but, you know, especially with this group, I’d like to get out there and generate some continuity.”
Solid offensive line play will be critical in the Tide’s season-opener against Florida State.
