Any time soccer icon Alex Morgan posts a video on Instagram, it is worth watching until the end. You might miss a huge piece of news if you do not.
Women's soccer fans have barely had time to get over Morgan's surprise retirement from professional soccer last September, which dropped in the form of a sit-down video on Instagram.
That video held a second announcement toward the end. Morgan shared that she was cutting her career with the United States Women's National Team and San Diego Wave FC short because she was pregnant with her second child.
Months later, Morgan has done it again. On Thursday, she took to Instagram to share what appeared to be a routine sponsored product video. Those who watched until the end saw Morgan reveal the gender of her second child.
The 35-year-old began the video by narrowing the due date.
"I'm two months out from baby No. 2." Morgan shared with her 9.8 million followers. "And I haven't gotten started yet, like not even close. It's giving baby No. 2 energy."
She proceeded to go through a number of sponsored products on her registry, but the last item revealed the gender of the baby in fitting Morgan style.
The longtime Nike athlete unboxed a "cute little pair" of Nike shoes with a blue swoosh, signaling that he is having a boy.
"Charlie's going to be a big sister," she announced. "We're having a boy."
The new baby brings Morgan's family from three to four. She and her husband, former soccer player Servando Carrasco, had a daughter named Charlie in May 2020.
The ex-USWNT forward has not announced a name for the little boy, but she recently shared her thoughts on baby names with Kylie Kelce on the "Not Gonna Lie" podcast.
As fans await the March due date that Morgan suggested, the anticipation for the big day will build every time she posts on Instagram, no matter how routine it appears at first glance.
