Alien: Romulus doesn’t skimp on the gore.

The next Alien film, which Disney named as Alien: Romulus recently, features one particularly violent scene that prompted some of the cast and crew to look away in horror.

Alien: Romulus star Isabela Merced outlines the gross-out moment with The Hollywood Reporter.

“So there’s a scene that I’m in, and they all had to turn away. Not one person stayed looking at that iPad because it was so disgusting. And I was watching it like this…I was so excited.”

Alien: Romulus is directed by Fede Álvarez. Given he’s helmed ultra-disturbing offerings in Don’t Breathe and Evil Dead Rise, shocking moments are to be expected.

Alien: Romulus takes place between the first and second films. Designed to stand alone, it doesn’t require prior knowledge of Alien lore.

The official synopsis describes "a group of young people on a distant world [who] find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe."

So how many people cringed at the moment?

“When we were doing reshoots, Fede Álvarez gave me the iPad where he watches playback,” says Merced. “I was the one holding the iPad, and there were ten people around me watching it on the iPad.” That bodes well for Alien: Romulus’ horror credentials.
