Jones, who dedicated 24 years of his career to the University of Louisville, served as an assistant coach under the legendary Denny Crum from 1973 to 1996. Following his coaching tenure, Jones continued to contribute to the program as a university relations assistant from 1996 to 2001.
During his time as an assistant, Jones played an instrumental role in the Cardinals’ success, helping lead the team to five Final Four appearances and two national championships in 1980 and 1986. His exceptional contributions to the program did not go unnoticed, as he was inducted into the UofL Athletics Hall of Fame in 1998, solidifying his legacy as one of the greats.
