The Texas Longhorns have enjoyed one of the top coaching staffs in the entire country throughout the last three seasons, which in turn helped lead the team to its first-ever College Football Playoff appearance this past season.

As a result of that success, it is not a surprise that some of the Longhorns' top assistants have become hot commodities across the country for various job openings.

That continued to prove to be the case for the Longhorns on Wednesday, with reports from Inside Texas indicating that defensive line coach Bo Davis is expected to leave Texas for LSU.

It is not yet clear which role Davis will fill at LSU - a staff in which has undergone major changes on the defensive side of the ball so far this offseason.

To say that this is a major blow for the Horns would be putting it mildly, with Davis sitting as one of the Longhorns' very best position coaches and recruiters on the staff.

During his time with Texas - his second stint with the program - Davis helped cultivate one of, if not the best, defensive lines in all of college football.

This past season, the Horns ranked No. 3 in the country vs. the run, allowing just 82.36 yards per game on the ground, and holding some of the nation's best rushers - including Doak Walker Award winner Ollie Gordon - in check.

Davis also played a major role in helping to develop Byron Murphy and T'Vondre Sweat into All-Americans and first-round NFL talents and was a key part of the Horns' efforts with top talents such as Colin Simmons along the defensive front.

Davis is now the second defensive coach to leave the Horns for a new job this offseason, with linebackers coach Jeff Choate becoming the head coach at Nevada.
