Analysis+Evalutation of 2022 Safety Commit Robert Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald, who is going into his senior year at Dallas Jesuit High School (TX), committed to the Wildcats on June 23rd after completing his official visit only five days earlier. Fitzgerald received offers from 29 schools and made official visits to Duke and Vanderbilt in addition to Northwestern.

Fitzgerald is 5'10" and weighs 200 pounds, culminating in a rock solid build that he uses to punish opponents every opportunity he gets. In high school, Fitzgerald spends the majority of his time at safety, but does make some appearances as linebacker and  quarterback. However, what may be most impressive about the young prospect is his work as a punt returner, where he has created some highlight reel-worthy returns.

His speed is truly killer for his opponents to deal with, but the way Fitzgerald engages with opposing ball carriers is notable as well. He is able to disguise himself and be out of view when quarterbacks and running backs make their read, and he is then able to swoop in and break up the play, force a fumble or stop a touchdown. He is the definition of a playmaker, and uses a quick first step to channel this dynamic play.

Fitzgerald's measurable sure are solid, and he projects as a solid player for the Wildcats in the near future.
