Angel Reese Teams Up With Magic Johnson Giving Back To Her Hometown In Baltimore

Angel Reese and Magic Johnson are pairing up through their respective foundations to support and uplift the Baltimore community. On Monday, the Chicago Sky star and the NBA legend unveiled their partnership, the “Wealth Playbook,” as Johnson announced on his late Instagram story.

Johnson shared a photo of the Wealth Playbook’s first session at the St. Frances Academy, an independent private school. The image captured an instructor engaging with a group of teenagers while a caption noted:

“The @magicjohnsonfoundation in partnership with the @angelreesefoundation and @pullupneighbor launched the Wealth Playbook, a financial literacy program in Baltimore, MD!”

The collaboration focused on helping Baltimore’s high school seniors through a four-session program to “understand the basics of financial literacy and how to build and maintain wealth for the long term.”

Angel Reese started her career in Baltimore, her hometown. She particularly played for St. Frances Panthers in high school, bringing them to Class A championships thrice and being part of the 2020 McDonald’s All-American Girls Roster before going to LSU in college.

Reese’s Foundation, created in July 2023, aims to empower girls through sports, education, and financial literacy. On the website, the “Bayou Barbie” stated, “I wanted to launch my foundation to foster equal opportunities for young women where they have been overlooked.”

Angel Reese and the Sky will face the Minnesota Lynx for their preseason match before facing the Indiana Fever in the season opener on May 17.

Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark faced off in several major college matchups, and while both stars denied any heated rivalry, their showdowns remain highly talked about.

One of the most memorable moments came when Reese taunted Clark after LSU defeated Iowa in the 2023 national championship.

That moment still lingers for Angel Webb Reese, Reese’s mother, who went to X/Twitter on Saturday to call out Clark’s fanbase.

Webb Reese also made the post in response to the significant gap in attendance between her daughter and Clark’s college homecomings.

Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky’s preseason match against Brazil, which resulted in their dominating victory, had rows of empty seats. Meanwhile, Clark and the Indiana Fever’s game against the same team was sold out.

“Aww that certain fan base looking in the stands celebrating ‘attendance’ while others are looking up in the rafters celebrating championship banners. We ain’t the same. Different year same haters. Have a great day,” Webb Reese tweeted.
