Archie Manning Walks Back Viral Cowboys Arch Comments

Archie said in a Tik Tok video that went viral that he would want his grandson to be drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. But those comments were taken a bit out of context. 

"That is something that kinda got outta hand," Manning said. "I have a sports bar in New Orleans and I was just being nice to a patron. I told him I hope Arch will play three years of college football and he said, 'And then maybe to the Cowboys?' I said, 'That'd be fine with me.' I didn't know he was going to put that on TikTok."

Clearly Manning was just being cordial and the preface of his exaggerated NFL choice tells the real story here. 

In a college football landscape rampant with transferring and shady NIL workings, it seems Arch and his family have a clear vision for him as he develops his game these next few years. Once he develops and is ready to make the leap, then the next conversations will be had. 

Perhaps down the line he somehow does end up at The Star. But the Manning group does not appear to have any stake in controlling his future or demanding special treatment. 

As for the Cowboys, they may start to ponder their quarterback situation over the next few years as Dak Prescott plays through his massive contract. Manning's timeline may conflict with theirs and Prescott. But if the young quarterback continues his growth, he is assured to be a coveted franchise foundation for other teams around the league.
