Ashton Jeanty Wrestles Away Jersey Number From Raiders All-Pro

The Las Vegas Raiders made one of the best choices in the 2025 NFL Draft when they selected Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 overall pick. He was easily one of the best overall prospects in this year's class, and he filled a major need for the Raiders.

Jeanty ran all over college opponents last season at Boise State, totaling 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns on the ground en route to a runner-up finish in the Heisman Trophy voting. Las Vegas had the weakest rushing attack in the NFL a season ago, mustering a league-worst 79.8 yards per contest.

Clearly, this was a match made in heaven for both parties, as Jeanty will step right into a starting role with the Silver and Black. The only problem, however, is that Jeanty, nicknamed "Deuce," may not get the jersey number he wanted in the NFL because a Raiders All-Pro already wears it.

However, NFL Jersey Numbers reported  that Jeanty is wearing No. 2, which was last assigned to kicker Daniel Carlson. This means that Carlson gave up his number to the rookie despite earning multiple All-Pro distinctions in that jersey.

While the Raiders have not made this numerical swap official, NFL Shop has begun selling Jeanty jerseys with the No. 2 on the back. If the change did happen, I am sure it cost the rookie back a pretty penny, but Carlson is also a team-first player. Las Vegas has a special group this season, and Deuce should be one of the centerpieces.
