This is the fourth consecutive week that an Arizona State player has won this award, with Nick McLain twice and Ryan Campos once. ASU became the first team to have four straight Conference Player of the Week winners since USC did back in the Pac-10 South in 1991.
On Thursday, Tobias drove home eight RBIs and went 5-for-5 at the plate in the Sun Devils’ 21-5 blowout victory over Texas Tech. The California native’s eight RBIs tied for the fourth-most in ASU single-game history.
The junior went 8-for-13 (.615) with three homers, 13 RBIs, a .706 OBP and a 1.385 slugging percentage over this past weekend and has recorded 19 RBIs in his last four games.
Then to put icing on the cake, Tobias finished an eight-run comeback for ASU with a game-winning single to propel the Sun Devils to a 14-13 victory over UNLV on Saturday. Arizona State was trailing 13-6 through six innings.
This season, he has gone 74-for-226 (.327), hit 18 home runs, collected 55 RBIs and scored 52 runs through 57 games (55 starts). Overall for ASU, Tobias is a .309 hitter with 35 homers, 143 RBS and has a .557 SLG% in 164 games (153 starts) as a Sun Devil.
Going into the 2024 Pac-12 Baseball Tournament as one of the hottest players in the conference, Tobias will look to help guide Arizona State who want to make some noise in the competition.
No. 5 ASU begins tournament play on Tuesday when they face No. 8 Stanford at Scottsdale Stadium at 10 a.m. PT.
