The Atlanta Falcons’ use of Indiana Fever’s now-iconic Sophie Cunningham pointing meme drew negative reactions from fans.
It’s official. The Cunningham pointing meme has taken over the internet, especially on X, where thousands of users, including sports teams, have used it for their content.
The Falcons were one of the NFL teams that hopped on the trend.
“Us when someone says 'W*o D*t,” the team wrote in one of its recent X posts.
However, it left a sour taste in fans' mouths. This included Atlanta Dream supporters, who pointed out that the Falcons should have focused on supporting their fellow pro team in the city.

“cant even post your own city’s team but will post a bum from Indy,” a fan said.
“Ngl why the [expletive] would you post this when the ATLANTA DREAM play in the same city. Disappointed in whoever runs this account for my team," a user commented.
“She had 2pts in that game btw. Meanwhile The dream are having their best season in years. ” said a user.
“So embarrassing take this down and support your own team Jesus,” pointed out a fan.
“There wasn’t a Hawks or Dream clip for this? another asked.
“Dream been hooping all season and ya’ll ain’t posted nun,” wrote a user.
The timing of this tweet from the Falcons is not ideal, especially since the Dream acquired WNBA star Angel Reese via an offseason trade. Reese has a long-standing rivalry with Caitlin Clark, the Fever's leading star.
Reese and Clark have been competitors since college, and that rivalry has carried over into the pro ranks. The latter holds the edge in head-to-head matchups with 5-3.
Also, the former University of Iowa standout beat Reese out for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award.
