Auburn players reveal inspiration behind Iron Bowl period in spring practice

Auburn put its Iron Bowl period on display Tuesday in front of media members.

The period included “Dixieland Delight” being blasted through the Tigers’ practice. Reporters asked Auburn players about the period after practice.

“The Iron Bowl, people feel like it’s lost its juice,” Auburn offensive lineman Tai Buster said, according to Justin Hokanson. “Coach Golesh is trying to bring that back, so he makes the Iron Bowl (period) full intensity, just going all hard as you can; giving it your all, because that’s what the Iron Bowl should be like.”

Eric Winters, who is a product of Enterprise, Alabama, told reporters the period keeps Alabama at the back of the mind of Tiger players.

“I think everybody in this state knows how much that game means to people around this city,” Winters said. “So, you know, just having that one period where things feel a little bit different, because that game does feel different, you know. So just having that period, just, just having them in the back of your mind.”

The Crimson Tide has won the last six Iron Bowls.

The rivals will meet up on Nov. 28 for the 2026 edition of the Iron Bowl.
