Australia’s women’s cricket team will travel to India in mid-September for a three-match ODI series, a key component of both teams' final preparations for the upcoming ICC Women's World Cup.
According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), all three ODIs will take place at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, also known as Chepauk, on September 14, 17, and 20.
India, as the host nation, alongside Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka, secured direct qualification to the World Cup. Bangladesh and Pakistan completed the eight-team lineup after emerging as the top two sides in the qualifying event held in Pakistan earlier this year.
In line with an agreement between the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made before the Champions Trophy, Pakistan's fixtures during the World Cup are likely to be staged at a neutral venue. A similar arrangement was seen during the Champions Trophy, where Pakistan hosted the tournament, but all of India's matches, including the high-profile clash against Pakistan, were held in Dubai.
Meanwhile, India A’s domestic calendar is set to intensify with visits from Australia A and South Africa A between September and November. Australia A will play two four-day matches starting September 16 and 23 in Lucknow, followed by three one-day games on September 30, October 3, and October 5 in Kanpur.
South Africa A will follow with two four-day games from November 2 and 9, and three one-dayers on November 13, 16, and 19—all scheduled at the BCCI’s new Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, marking the venue’s debut as a host for competitive fixtures.
The series is expected to provide both sides with high-level match practice just ahead of the global tournament.
