Barcelona coach Xavi: Without my resignation our season would be over

Barcelona coach Xavi says his resignation announcement has sparked their season.

Barca are a step away from reaching the Champions League semifinals and are alive in the LaLiga title race.

Xavi said today ahead of their clash at Cadiz: "If I hadn't announced that I was leaving, this would have been a disaster. I was sure that with the decision I made, we would do well. If I hadn't decided that, I wouldn't be competing at this point.

Asked if he would reconsider, he added: "You don't even need to ask me. Nothing changes."

Xavi also commented on Vitor Roque's situation: "He has innate qualities that he brings from Brazil. He can give us things and he is giving them to us. I'm sure he has minutes tomorrow. You have to take advantage of his movements in space and make him understand the position game that he has not yet personalised."
