The 24th Players Championship of the year was a triumph for Jeffrey de Graaf on Monday. The Dutch Swede defeated Englishman Stephen Bunting 8-7 in the final in Milton Keynes. For De Graaf, it was the first PDC ranking title of his career.
The highest average of the day, however, went to another player. Mike De Decker defeated Wesley Plaisier 6-2 in the opening round, posting an average of 108. The 29-year-old Belgian lost 6-2 to Scot Greg Ritchie one round later.
Michael van Gerwen provided the second highest average of the day. 'Mighty Mike' went down 6-3 against Scott Williams at the last sixteen. Yet in that match, Van Gerwen achieved a higher average (107.97) than his opponent (105.46).
Completing the top three is Beau Greaves . The 21-year-old Englishwoman, who has already managed to win nine consecutive tournaments in the PDC Women's Series, also showed her immense talent in the men's event. In the opening round, she defeated Dutchman Dennie Olde Kalter 6-0, achieving an average of 107.36. 'Beau 'n' Arrow subsequently also defeated Raymond van Barneveld, eventually losing 6-5 to Luke Littler in the last 32 after pushing the reigning world champion all the way in a thrilling match.
