“Cheezborger, Cheezborger… and beer…”

About two years ago, Billy Goat Tavern teamed up with Chicago area brewer, Miskatonic Brewing Company, and developed a pair of beers to go along with the iconic Chicago eaterie’s famous hamburgers. I recently tried the Pilsner style brew to see if I should add it to my backyard BBQ beverage list.

After one sip, I was hooked. A light, crisp and refreshing beginning with a cool, smooth finish. Drinkability is big for me and this was right on target. Billy Goat’s Pilsner has enough hops to give it flavor and know I’m drinking something special but not too much to ruin my mood. At 5.3% ABV, this Pilsner will keep you going through grill time and you’ll still want some more to enjoy with that burger, brat, or hot dog when it’s ready to be eaten. But make sure you don’t serve it with fries, just chips.

Along with the Pilsner, there is also a 7% ABV IPA. Both are brewed at the Miskatonic Brewing Company just outside of Chicago in Darien. I found this selection at Jewel in Palos Park, and according to the Billy Goat Tavern website, you can get it at Pete’s Fresh Market and Woodman’s Market. Or, you can go straight to the goat’s mouth and get it out of the tap at any of the eight Chicagoland locations.
