BET Awards Getting Crushed For Angel Reese Announcement

Black Entertainment Television is receiving a ton of backlash for once again giving Angel Reese a prestigious award.

Reese has become one of the most popular players in women's basketball due to her unapologetic attitude on the hardwood. Since entering the WNBA in 2024, she has averaged 12.8 points and 13.0 rebounds per game. She earned All-Star honors as a rookie.

On Monday night, Reese was named the BET Sportswoman of the Year. This announcement was made during the 2025 BET Awards show in Los Angeles.

Reese, 23, beat out several notable athletes for this award, including Simone Biles, Coco Gauff, Sha'Carri Richardson, Juju Watkins and A'ja Wilson.

Judging by the reactions on social media, fans aren't happy that Reese has already won BET Sportswoman of the Year three times.

"Over A’ja, Sha’Carri and Simone Biles???Wasn’t there outrage on a certain Mt. Rushmore post recently? This is why I can’t take you folks seriously fr lol," one person wrote on X.

"This is disrespectful to all of the great women athletes out there," a second person replied.

"A'ja had one of the most historic seasons ever. Phee was an MVP runner up and spearheaded a new league as a domestic option so women wouldn't have to go overseas... Not even going to get into other sports," another fan said.

"This is a slap in the face to every single woman on this list. EVERY SINGLE ONE. What a charity case," a social media declared.

Reese is the first athlete to win the BET Sportswoman of the Year award three times since 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams accomplished this feat.

Do you think Reese deserved this award?
