Big 12 Leads March Madness 2025 in Winning Percentage Entering Sweet 16

The Second Round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament wrapped up on Sunday evening, leaving just 16 teams still standing in a race to a national championship.

While the SEC has the most teams in the Sweet 16 with seven teams still in the mix, it’s actually the Big 12 that has fared best since the beginning of the tournament.

The SEC set a new record with 14 bids this year but has seen seven teams eliminated since last week and hold an overall record of 15-7 (68.1%) in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Big 12 had seven teams when March Madness began and still has four teams left in the field.

Here’s a look at the overall record for each conference in tournament play thus far.

The Big 12 started off with a 9-1 record through their first 10 games, and went 3-0 in their games on Saturday. However, the Sunday slate was the toughest yet for the league, as Baylor fell to No. 1 seed Duke and Iowa State fell to Ole Miss. Arizona capped the night with a victory for the league, bringing its record on the day to 1-2.

With four teams advancing, the Big 12 fell short of making March Madness history, but the record held by the ACC since 2016 was broken anyway, as the SEC’s seven teams in the Sweet Sixteen is now the new mark to beat.
