Tottenham forward Richarlison seems determined to start a new chapter at N17 following Thomas Frank’s arrival. The Brazil international has made it a point to prove his worth at Hotspur Way after enduring a disappointing stint at the club. And it looks like the 28-year-old has already managed to work his way into the starting eleven under the Danish tactician.
The ex-Everton star was always seen as a second fiddle up front in recent years, falling down the pecking order under various managers. And just like any other summer, the Spurs No.9 was linked with an exit from N17 in this transfer window as well. After a disastrous individual campaign last season, it looked all but over for Richarlison at Hotspur Way.
However, the Brazil international has turned a new leaf under Thomas Frank this season after promising to repay the Spurs manager’s faith in him. Richarlison has already managed to score two goals and provided an assist in just two Premier League games. Not only that, but the prolific striker is working hard to maintain his place in the starting eleven as games come in thick and fast.
Well, it is fair to say that Tottenham do not need to spend extra money on a new striker in the coming days if Richarlison can maintain his current form. The 28-year-old’s brilliant start to the new campaign has also seen him earn a place in the Brazil National Team for the upcoming international break. This just proves that the prolific striker has managed to get back to his best after a full pre-season at N17.
Now, Theo Walcott has taken the time to praise the Spurs No.9’s work-ethic and determination. Speaking on the Football Daily podcast (via TBR Football), Walcott said,
“I played with Richarlison and at times he could frustrate the hell out of you. He really could because he’s a kind of player who’s a slight maverick in the team, but the big change in him, he’s working his socks off and it starts from the front.”
The ex-Arsenal player added,
“It always tends to start from the front. I think someone like Thomas Frank; he just gets the best out of individuals and then brings those individuals together.”
Theo Walcott admitted that Richarlison can frustrate his teammates at times due to his resilient nature. However, the ex-Arsenal player added that the Brazil international is already ‘working his socks off’ and that is because of his determination to succeed and prove his worth in the Premier League. Walcott also credits Thomas Frank for bringing the best out of the 28-year-old and putting the faith in him to make his mark at N17.
Now, fans will hope that the Spurs No.9 manages to stay fit for a stretch of games and does not lose his confidence. Spurs are a much better team under Thomas Frank when Richarlison is on the pitch. That is the reality of the situation. So, the Danish tactician will also look to make sure that Richarlison is given enough time to rest and recover between games to avoid unnecessary injuries.
