So much of Elijah Young's football career is out of his control. But given a recent chance with the Buffalo Bills, he certainly did everything he could to make an impression and impact.

Young recently signed with the Bills shortly after getting released by the Kansas City Chiefs in the days leading up to the third and final weekend of preseason exhibitions. Such signings are usually important for a team to have enough players to get through such a game without injuries to key starters resting.

The Bills did what everyone thought they would after the game by releasing Young along with six other players in their first wave of cuts toward the 53-man roster.

Former Chiefs RB Elijah Young had a nice moment with the Bills in their third preseason game.

Any player who signs with a team so late knows they're simply trying to generate some positive game film without any real chance to stay with that team, but Young's performance for Buffalo was noteworthy.

In the Bills' preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Young was allowed to find his rhythm as a well-rounded back. He was given 16 carries and generated 53 rushing yards. He also caught all 3 of his targets for 40 more yards. Earning 93 yards from scrimmage late in the preseason is a good way to get noticed.

The Chiefs originally signed Young as a rookie free agent after the former Missouri-turned-Western Kentucky prospect went undrafted this spring. He stuck around for the duration of minicamp through training camp, but he was recently waived to make room for linebacker Xavier Mueller as the Chiefs adjusted their roster to weather the final preseason game against the Chicago Bears.

While it's hard to say if the Chiefs would reach back out to Young to join their practice squad, since they also have to make difficult decisions with Carson Steele and have Michael Wiley as a rookie free agent also on the roster, it's possible the Bills show interest after his preseason display. If nothing else, Young has some positive proof that he can provide a spark if given a chance.
