Black Ops 7 Preorders Fall Behind Battlefield and Sports Giants
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Might Not Have Tac-Sprint, It's Claimed - And Fans Are Divided

Didn’t think it’d ever happen, but lo and behold! Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 just opened preorders, and instead of steamrolling the charts like it usually does, it’s… hanging out in sixth place. On the US PlayStation Store. Behind two versions of NBA 2K26, EA Sports FC 2026, Battlefield 6’s Phantom Edition, and—just to twist the knife—Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Yes, a remake of a 2004 stealth game is currently outperforming Activision’s flagship shooter.

This isn’t just a stumble. It’s a full-on identity crisis.

Battlefield 6 Is Actually Winning—What Timeline Is This?

Battlefield 6 topping the charts feels like a glitch in the matrix. After years of launch-day chaos and patch notes longer than novels, EA finally dropped a Phantom Edition that people actually want. Early access perks, exclusive gear, and a marketing push that doesn’t feel like it was outsourced to a spreadsheet? Apparently, that’s all it takes.

Meanwhile, Black Ops 7 is sitting in the corner, quietly hoping Game Pass will bail it out. The Gamescom reveal was fine. The campaign looks moody. But nothing about it screamed “preorder me now or regret it forever.” And clearly, players are waiting for something more.

Sports Games Are Still the Unkillable Kings

NBA 2K and EA FC are doing what they always do: dominating. Two versions of NBA 2K26 are outranking Black Ops 7, because of course they are. EA FC 2026 is printing money off Career Mode tweaks and Ultimate Team bundles.

These games have built-in preorder audiences that don’t flinch. COD used to be in that club. This year? It’s the guy who showed up late and forgot his controller.

Snake Eater Is the Wild Card Nobody Saw Coming

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, climbing above Black Ops 7 is poetic. Nostalgia sells, sure—but this remake has teeth. Konami nailed the trailer, nailed the tone, and reminded everyone what emotional investment actually looks like.

It’s not just a stealth game. It’s a statement. And right now, it’s louder than whatever Black Ops 7 is trying to say.

Can Black Ops 7 Recover?

Maybe? It’s Call of Duty. It’s not going to flop because it does have its share of die-hards who love playing the game. Honestly, it would take a screw-up of epic proportions for Call of Duty to lose all their fanbase over one game. But this early chart slump is a wake-up call, letting the devs know that they aren’t hitting all the marks their fans are expecting from the Black Ops series. Game Pass will help. Warzone integration will help. But Treyarch needs to stop assuming the crown is theirs by default.

Because right now? Battlefield’s wearing it—and it’s not giving it back without a fight.
