HAMDEN, Conn. – In their fourth game of the season, the national champion Quinnipiac Bobcats finished their first game decided in regulation in dominating fashion, blowing out American International (AIC) 8-0 on home ice. This was the second meeting between these two teams, with Quinnipiac taking the first game of the home and home in overtime by a score of 3-2.

The Bobcats didn’t waste any time getting going in the first period, scoring just five minutes into the game with junior defenseman CJ McGee finding sophomore forward Sam Lipkin to put Quinnipiac up, 1-0. Lipkin, who had the assist on the National Championship overtime winner last year, notched his first of the season and first of two in this game.

The scoring wouldn’t stop there as the Bobcats would tack on two more in 19 seconds with goals from freshman forward Mason Marcellus and junior forward Collin Graf to give Quinnipiac a 3-0 lead. Graf totaled five points (two goals and three assists) on the night in his first game back since going down with an injury last weekend against Boston College.

The power play for the Bobcats exploded in the second period, accounting for three out of the four goals Quinnipiac scored in the second. The scoring started with a power play goal by senior forward and Ohio State transfer Travis Treloar, who buried a goal after a nice setup from the National Championship overtime hero, junior forward Jacob Quillan. The Bobcats would add on three more in the period with Graf and Lipkin each scoring their second of the game.

Heading into the third, Quinnipiac controlled the game with a 7-0 lead. They would add on one more in the final three minutes with a goal from junior forward Christophe Tellier to put the game even further out of reach 8-0.

The Bobcats will look to carry this momentum over to next weekend when they travel to New Hampshire for back-to-back games against UNH before returning home to start ECAC play.
