Breaking News Alert: Arkansas Hiring Shocking Name for OC Vacancy for 2nd Stint
Nathan Papes/Springfield News-Leader / USA TODAY NETWORK

Arkansas is reportedly hiring a very surprising name for their vacant offensive coordinator position. After a 7-3 loss to Mississippi State in October, the Razorbacks fired Offensive Coordinator Dan Enos, leaving Kenny Guiton to take over play-calling duties.   Arkansas finished the 2023 season with a disappointing 4-8 season.

Arkansas Offensive Woes

The Razorbacks had a disappointing 2023 season, finishing with a 4-8 record.  Their offense was the source of a lot of disappointment, finishing with 26.8 points per game (11th in the SEC) and 326.5 yards per game (13th in the SEC).  Some of that can be attributed to RB Rocket Sanders missing the majority of the season with injury, but a lot of that was bad play-calling.  Dan Enos was ousted midway through the season, and the Hogs have been searching for a new OC.  They may have just found their guy.

Surprising Name Agrees to Become OC

A very surprising candidate with a very infamous history in Fayetteville has agreed to become the new Offensive Coordinator for the Razorbacks, according to Chris Low

Petrino was 26-12 in his previous 3-year stint in Fayetteville, but his…ahem…”extra-curricular” activities are what he is most known for.

In April 2012, Petrino was involved in a motorcycle accident with a staffer whom he had been engaging in an extra-marital affair with.  Initially, in an attempt to cover up the incident, Petrino had insisted he was alone on the motorcycle.  However, he would later admit the staffer was on the bike with him at the time of the accident.  Petrino was subsequently fired and would later move on to coach at Western Kentucky, Louisville…for a 2nd time, Missouri State, and then as the OC at Texas A&M in 2023.
