Emotions are running high in Oxnard at Dallas Cowboys training camp. Multiple scuffles have taken place between teammates as on-field intensity picks up. Another one occurred on Wednesday and head coach Brian Schottenheimer apparently had enough.

Schottenheimer kicked out rookie offensive lineman Ajani Cornelius from practice due to a skirmish. Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com captured a video of the coming together but not of the moment where Schottenheimer ejected one of his younger guys.

ESPN’s Todd Archer, also on the scene, added some more color to the situation. Apparently, Corneilus threw a punch which led to the move from Schottenheimer.

“Brian Schottenheimer wasn’t kidding,” Archer said via X. “OT Ajani Cornelius threw a punch and was kicked out of practice.”

Cornelius played his college football at Oregon, starting for them at right tackle. He was a part of the Big Ten Championship-winning team due to a perfect 13-0 record entering the College Football Playoff. Individual accolades were received for his play, weirdly earning second-team All-American but third-team All-Big Ten.

Dallas focused on getting better at offensive line this NFL Draft, taking a late flier on Cornelius. In the sixth round at No. 204 overall, the Cowboys took the offensive tackle. Training camp was going to be a great opportunity for Cornelius to show what he was made of.

Instead, emotions have gotten the best of him. Now away from the team due to throwing a punch, everyone else has gathered on the sidelines for a little bit of running under Schottenheimer’s supervision. To say he is fired up would be an understatement.

Stephen Jones gives latest on rookie CB Shavon Revel

Trevon Diggs is not the only injured Dallas Cowboys cornerback. Rookie Shavon Revel Jr. entered training camp still recovering from a torn ACL, an injury he suffered at East Carolina. To this point, Revel has not been fully cleared to participate.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones provided an update on Revel Wednesday, giving a positive report on the cornerback’s status. “The next couple of weeks” is when Jones believes Revel will be back. But from there, some usual rookie growing pains could be on the agenda.

“We just think the world of him,” Jones said. “We really think he’s going to be a hell of a player in this league. But we’re on that same thing (as Trevon Diggs) of when do we think we’ll get him back. I’m 99 percent sure he’ll be back in the next couple of weeks. But then he’s a rookie, so it’s going to take a minute for him to get used to it and what it’s like to be a pro and those types of things.”
