The Atlanta Dream kicked off the second half of the WNBA season with a disappointing loss on Tuesday night. The Dream suffered a defeat on the road against the Las Vegas Aces, 87-72, with A’ja Wilson turning in another monster performance with 24 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks in the win.

Veteran center Brittney Griner made her 21st start for the Dream in her first year with the team, finishing with nine points and four rebounds in another quiet outing. Griner and Co. fell to 13-10 after Tuesday’s loss, and are currently fifth in the league.

The deflating defeat against Las Vegas wasn’t the only thing on Griner’s mind on Tuesday night, though. After the game, the nine-time All-Star took to social media to pay tribute to the late, great Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 76.

“R.I.P TO THE GODFATHER OF HEAVY METAL!” Griner posted on Instagram.

Who is Ozzy Osbourne and How Did He Die?

It was Osbourne’s family who announced his passing on Tuesday via a post on the rock icon’s social media account. They did not disclose the cause of death, but the family said that he was surrounded by his loved ones when he passed.

Osbourne has battled several health issues through the years, including being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2019.

Osbourne, a native of Birmingham, England, is most known for being the frontman of the band Black Sabbath. He is credited with inventing the subgenre of heavy metal, known for hit songs such as “Paranoid” and “War Pigs.”

Earlier this month, Osbourne and his pioneering band members were on stage for Black Sabbath’s farewell concert in his hometown. More than 40,000 fans packed Villa Park for the band’s farewell show, which was supported by musicians that they had inspired, including Guns N’ Roses and Metallica.

Osbourne is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon. They share three children: Aimee, Kelly and Jack. Osbourne also has three kids with ex-wife Thelma Riley: Jessica, Louis and Elliot.
