Hulk Hogan's recent passing left behind a complicated legacy — not the least of which was a sex tape scandal that rocked the entertainment world and resulted in a $140 million civil lawsuit win over Gawker in 2016.
For years, radio host Bubba the Love Sponge was credited with leaking the tape of the wrestling legend and his then-wife Heather Clem. But during a recent appearance on Bubba's show, Hogan's daughter Brooke revealed that her father knew it wasn't the host who did it.
Hogan talked about she'd been watching Bubba take the heat for the infamous tape for a long time now "and I've been hearing you say, 'Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.'"
"My dad told me the real story," Brooke said Tuesday. "He said one of your employees had [the tape] and that they took it from you. He knew it wasn't you."
"I can't watch you beat yourself up," she added. "Because, for me, you were always my Uncle Bubba. ... I just don't want you to keep beating yourself up over that. Because he told me he knew it wasn't you."
Hogan and Bubba were extremely close friends prior to the incident and understandably went their separate ways after the tape was found.
Hulk ended up suing Bubba and his wife at the time which eventually ended in a $5,000 settlement and an on-air apology from the Florida-based radio voice.
"I'm heartbroken to hear of Terry's passing," Bubba told TMZ last month. "As everyone knows we had our issues and those issues were mostly my fault. I loved him as a friend while he was with us, and will continue to love his memory as a friend going forward."
Hogan ended up dying at 71 from a reported heart attack and is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most impactful wrestlers of all-time.
In her conversation this morning, Brooke also shared that she asked to be removed from his will in order to avoid getting into a financial battle with people around him that she says she didn't trust.
