Just days ago, Brooke Hogan released an emotional statement on social media about the passing of her father, WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan. Hogan, who was just 71, passed away from cardiac arrest on July 24. Brooke opened up about her strained relationship with her father and cleared up rumors that the two had a “big fight.” Now Brooke is opening up about why she didn’t appear at any of her father’s televised tributes.
Brooke took to social media on Wednesday to address why she didn’t appear on last Friday’s WWE SmackDown, this Monday’s WWE RAW, or this week’s WWE NXT. Each event featured a 10-bell salute and a video package to showcase the WWE Hall of Famer’s career. She answered the question in an Instagram story:
“For those of you giving me crap for not attending my Dad’s tributes, @wwe did not extend an invite.”
Brooke’s brother, Nick, did make an appearance at one of the tributes, which was during Monday Night RAW. Nick stood on stage side by side with the roster that night. It’s unclear why Brooke wasn’t invited, though it could be because of their rocky relationship, and WWE didn't want to step on anyone's toes.
According to TMZ, Brooke last spoke to her father in 2023, which was two weeks before he married his third wife, Sky Daily. As noted in her statement, the reason behind the estrangement was a mix of emotional toll and private disagreements. According to Brooke, she was there for 25 of her father’s surgeries, but then one day, he didn’t want her there.
They also had a different view of him working as hard as he did with all of the surgeries. The relationship was further strained when the mother of twins had a “complicated and scary” C-section. Brooke revealed in Tuesday’s post that it was her
husband who kept the bridge of communication between father and daughter.
“During the last two years, I had to step away to protect my heart. My husband stayed open, quietly reaching out to my dad without me knowing, trying to find a safe way back in for me. After my father passed, I read those messages, some answered, some ignored… but all of them broke my heart.”
For better or worse, in 2005, WWE fans got a chance to see Hulk with his family, then-wife Linda Hogan, Brooke, and Nick, due to VH1’s reality TV series, “Hogan Knows Best.” Brooke had been just sixteen when the series began. It lasted for a total of four seasons.
