Arsenal made it six points from six so far this season with a dominating win at home against Leeds United, winning 5-0. Goals from Bukayo Saka and two each from Jurrien Timber and summer signing Viktor Gyokeres saw the Gunners run out easy winners at the Emirates. Injuries to Saka and captain Martin Odegaard cast a shadow over the win, but Sky Sports News‘ Adrian Kajumba is reporting that the injuries may not be as severe as first thought.

Arsenal Cruise to Victory Against Leeds United

Update on Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard Injuries

From the first goal going in, there was no doubt how Arsenal vs Leeds would end up. It was an impressive performance from the home team, with the injuries to Saka and Odegaard the only downside.

In the post-match press conference, Arteta spoke about the injuries to both: “That’s the negatives of the day. Martin felt something in his shoulder when he landed. We don’t know, we’ll have to scan him tomorrow and understand a bit better. And Bukayo, while he was carrying the ball, wrestling with the defender, he felt something in his hamstring. Let’s see, I think it’s the other one, it’s not the same one as the previous injury. We’ve been two weeks and we’ve already lost Kai, Martin and Bukayo, so it tells you how well-equipped you have to be in this league to manage and to maintain the level that we want.”

Injuries Not as Bad as Initially Feared

Sky Sports is now reporting that Arsenal are optimistic the injuries are not as bad as first thought, after both underwent scans on August 24. Saka suffered from hamstring troubles last season, missing over three months of the last campaign after undergoing surgery on his right hamstring. However, the problem he picked up this time was in his left leg. Odegaard was taken off in the first half after landing awkwardly on his right shoulder. Following the injury to Odegaard, Arsenal postponed a store signing event the player was due to attend on August 25.
