Clemson Tigers quarterback Cade Klubnik showed his support for the New York Giants' incoming rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart.
The Giants selected Dart from the Ole Miss Rebels with the No. 25 overall pick in the first round of April's NFL draft. He is projected to be the third-string quarterback behind veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston.
Despite not likely having a great chance at becoming the starter as a rookie, Dart could develop into the Giants' eventual starter and franchise quarterback with mentoring and guidance from Wilson and Winston. He also received some love from New York in one of their recent Instagram posts of him suited up in the Giants' iconic blue uniform, which got a response from Klubnik.
“ ,” the Giants wrote in the caption while Klubnik commented, “@jaxsondart pool champs.”
Klubnik never played against Dart during the Giants rookie's three seasons with Ole Miss. Klubnik is heading into his final season at Clemson, where he completed 308-of-486 passes for 3,639 yards, 36 touchdowns and six interceptions in his junior season.
He also rushed for 463 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. Klubnik helped the Tigers go 10-4 and make the inaugural 12-Team College Football Playoff, where they lost in the first round to the Texas Longhorns, 38-24.
Meanwhile, in Dart’s final season at Ole Miss, he completed 276-of-398 passes for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed for 495 yards and three touchdowns.
Dart helped the Rebels go 10-3 and win the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl by defeating the Duke Blue Devils, 52-20.
